How To… Redirect Parked Domains

One thing many marketers do is buy up keyword rich domain names to redirect to affiliate offers. Those domains may non-hosted domains, redirecting from the domain registrar straight to the offer. The may be empty hosted domains with an index page that redirects to the offer. There are also other variations.

In each case, you can redirect all the traffic going to the parked domains through GoTryTHIS links to wherever you want. Then you control the destinations of all the parked domains from one place, can edit them at any time, can split-test the traffic to multiple affiliate links, and you can monitor it all in real-time in GoTryTHIS.

To keep it all organized, you might want to tag the links you use for this as “parked domains”, so you can bring them all up at once and compare the traffic.

There are three ways to accomplish this, with the easiest method described first:

  1. Create a GoTryTHIS link on one of your other domains and then go into your domain or hosting control panel and tell it to redirect all traffic from the domain to the GoTryTHIS link on the other domain, which you can then redirect anywhere.
  2. Create a GoTryTHIS link on one of your other domains, save it, edit it, go to the “Code” tab, and copy the second box of code. Then edit your index.html page on the parked and hosted domain and paste in the code as the only code on the page. (Paste it in as the only thing between the <html><head> and </head></html> tags in your index.html page and remove all other content.)
  3. Install the GoTryTHIS domain code onto the parked and hosted domain and then use method number 2 above, which also lets you have other GoTryTHIS links on the parked and hosted domain.
