One of the reasons I like using GoTryTHIS is so I don't have ugly links with a lot of ?=&+ symbols in them. I use Gotrythis to mask the variable parameters when I link to a splash page when sending traffic from credit based mailers or traffic exchanges.

example: I send a mail out to members of This Credit Mailer using a link http://mysplashpage.com?s=ThisCreditMailer I mask this link as http://mygttdomain.com/splashidforthiscreditmailer. This lets me track the clicks on the link as well as hiding the parameters.

I pass parameters to the splash page so that it can then use as a campaign on a gotrythis link to an affiliate program.

In my previous example the splash page will take the parameter ?s=ThisCreditMailer and use it as a campaign on a gtt link to an affiliate program:
http://mygttdoman.com/affprogram-ThisCreditMailer

This link incorporates my affiliate ID and tracks where the leads originated so I can send leads from multiple sources to this splash page and tell which sources are effective and which are not using the campaign generated by the splash page from the parameters.

The only problem is I have to set up a new gtt link with different parameters for each traffic source. I could use a campaign and parameters to track but then the link is extra ugly http://mygttdomain.com/splashpage-thiscreditmailer?s=thiscreditmailer

It would be nice if GoTryTHIS had the capability of using the campaign id as a parameter in the destination link.

So I could use http://mygttdomain.com/splashpage-thiscreditmailer and gotrythis would send the traffic to the destination http://mysplashpage.com?s=thiscreditmailer automatically extracting the value for s from the campaign identifier of the gotrythis link

Yes, Ian Del Carmen certainly should have tested his "page after adding the affiliate link, especially if there is audio that plays on the page. It might play in the background of your page too."

You are absolutely correct...I saw the trap when the cleverly worded email tried to "trick" me into clicking a link for to upgrade my Newsletter subscription for FREE . Just one little detail - the Newsletter doesn't exist. Red flag! Red flag!

Sure enough that click automatically subscribes you to another list promoting Product A even though you're just supposed to believe you will be sent this great new upgraded newsletter...WRONG. LIARS, all of them!

Next comes the voices...where are they coming from? I must have some page open by mistake but no, that's not it. It's the owner of Product B talking all about the up-and-coming launch in January 2010 - I think it was Commission Blueprint. Upon further investigation, it was indeed a tiny little object playing from the part of the screen way down from where the sun don't shine.

Of course, I fixed the code so it would play on the page and saved all the evidence for educational purposes. Ian Del Carmen looks exactly like what he is. I knew that years ago. Proof is just a formality. I never did finish this - www.SpyDudes.net - Maybe one day I will get around to uploading more interesting discoveries. . . . .then I can lock them all up in the www.Scamzoo.com ZooKeeper Jop Open. Apply within!

You will probably delete my comments but that's okay - at least YOU know!!

Hi John

The link that you added on this topic goes to a page that says

"Not Found

Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here."

I was hoping to be able to see what you wrote on this topic as it pertains to my situation right now as you know.

In the instructions above I guess I am missing something because it is my understanding the host defaults to index.html to begin with so it would not even recognize http://mysite.com/ as something different. In other words this is what users put in as an Url to begin with and they end being redirected by default to the index.html page unless another is somehow designated as the home page.

Isn't that true?

The issue here is how to keep ones back link in place for SEO and at the same time making the link in the Text only resource box an active track able link through GTT all the while the link is made to look like the actual URL ie. http://mysite.com/.

Meanwhile I am testing to see how to do this successfully. Looking forward to your directions on this.

Thanks again John for everything.

Do not follow these instructions for Thesis!!!!

The new repair function in the dashboard works perfectly on Thesis.

I installed Thesis yesterday and broke my links.

I went to the installer and did a repair and it worked perfectly.
It had me install the gotrythis plug in at the end.

Thank you John!

Hi Robert.

It is currently only compatible with the version of GoTryTHIS 2 being released with the plugin. I have not yet had discussions with the programmers on making it available for version 1. Indeed, it would be nice if we can offer that as well and we will look into it.
