Status on the free upgrade for version 1
Update: Most of the things on this list are done, including the twitter link feature. We will release them all at once, aiming for December 7.
We are preparing to release the free upgrade in about two weeks. First, we are reducing support requirements with the following changes:
1) Solve issue with installing on some web hosts where SetupBOT sometimes would not accept FTP information. (Done!)
2) Auto-detect installation locations for sub-domains and add-on domains. (Update: Done!)
3) Automatically apply the WordPress fix during setup, and alert people about any other .htaccess conflicts. (Update: Done!)
4) Add extra monitoring into the domain code to help us identify causes of any other problems faster. (Update: In Progress)
Once those things are done, we will turn on the free upgrade option. If the upgrade creates a lot of support stress, we may limit the number of people who can upgrade each day, or something like that. We’ll see how it goes.
This is not the final free upgrade release! The final version will also mirror your links on our twitter-friendly twe.to domain with tinyURL style links you can use interchangeably with your normal GoTryTHIS links. If all goes well, these links will support all of the GoTryTHIS features, including split-testing affiliate links, embedding links, sub-campaigns, and all the same stats. This feature is about 50% completed so we have not yet done load testing etc, but in theory it should work right.
After that, we have loads of new features, reports, and interface enhancements that we will be adding, which will only be available if you continue to support our development efforts by subscribing. There are spots still available at half price if you want to grab one. We will get people to start promoting a little bit once we have the twe.to feature finished.
